Glasgow Tenement Flat. 1 to 2 bed Conversion in Glasgow’s West End. Many Glasgow tenement, 1 bedroom flats, have a large dining sized Kitchen. The original kitchen includes a recess and the original lounge features a walk in cupboard. In these flats often the recess and walk in cupboard sit back to back with a load bearing wall in-between. Removal of the load bearing wall and forming an internal kitchen in the newly formed space allows the existing dining kitchen to be converted into a bedroom. Removing load bearing walls. We are often asked to remove internal walls. Usually to create an open plan living space. This project involved removing a load bearing wall to create an Open Plan Kitchen and Lounge. We took care of everything, from the creation of architect drawings, structural engineering calculations and reports and building warrant approval. We then carried out the works informing building control at the relevant stages and seen the project through to completion including obtaining final sign off from building control.
